Do you know Jojo Feat? Hillary Duff? Lindsay Lohan? Avril Lavigne? Ashley Simpson? Jamie Lynn Spears?
They’re the young faces in the music (and movie-making) industry. Cute? Downright ‘flashy’? Really talented? We have it all. They are the image of teeny-boppers nowadays… from 10 to 18 years of age.
I saw Parent Trap, Lindsay’s movie when she was little. Oh, how cute she was then. She’s 18 now… and has evolved into this sexy ‘thing’. Yes, I call it ‘thing’ because I don’t think she emanates an aura of real person but of a good package to sell to young audience.
The other good package is Ashley Simspon, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson. Her father cum manager Joe Simpson has transformed her into a dark-haired young pop sirene — a bold and smart moves to diffrentiate her from many young-blond pop star wannabes.
Many teeny boppers and teens imitate and follow these young pop stars — hairstyles, clothes, accessories, etc. I know, I know, older generations experienced a bit or more of this fad then. Am I being sinister? Probably. I think what they portray and deliver is just ‘style’ in pop culture — just a fad that I could see sometime in the future as arrays in caleidoscope of pop music culture. Furthermore… I expect more ~ that an older and wiser world would find less manipulating way in catapulting the young stars into fame and fortune.
Avril Lavigne is unique and admirable, I guess. She has personality that hardly bends under the command of marketing machine. Her songs are pretty meaningful too. Hillary Duff is cute and her charitable work is commendable… a good model of compassion for these teeny boppers and teens.
Let’s see which one of them can stay in the music limelight for the long haul. Who is the true blue artist? And who is here merely to enjoy the ride and takes advantage of this good opprotunity? Only time can tell.
