My friend, Yani, asked me to accompany her to see this movie. She said that I should see this movie… lucu sekali katanya, tapi nggak norak. Well, when we arrived at the cinemas there were already two long queues, and most people were in line to purchase tickets to see Nagabonar Jadi 2. I told her that it’s better be good otherwise she should treat me. *smile*
Follow this official link or this link for movie review in local language (Kompas Daily Newspaper, April 15, 2007): Sebuah Aktualisasi Nilai.
Or, this link in English (although I disagree on the commentary for this movie… well, yes, it’s a bit religious-overtone message towards the end).
I would recommend you to see this movie… I laughed and cried during the movie. *smile*
Yes, we’ve met so many Nagabonar in our lives — as rough men that don’t look good, are not well-educated, and were once not very fortunate, but there’s always a good woman that loves them. Why? Because they are kind at heart but not rude and true to his commitment.
Yes, we’ve met so many Bonaga in our lives — as single, good-looking, smart, and very fortunate men, but are still very afraid to express their feeling to the women that they love.
Yes, we’ve met so many Monita in our lives — as single, good-looking, smart, and very fortunate women, but still need to hear that words (I love you, or, Aku sayang kamu, or else…) from the man that they love and love them. As Nagabonar said, “Perempuan ya tetap perempuan, senang diperhatikan dan disayangi.” Well, of course, independency doesn’t mean you don’t need to be loved. *smile*
Yes, we’ve found so many Jaki in our lives — a devout Moslem who never missed the five obligatory prayers but consciously still commits sinful doings in between their prayers. *smile*
Unfortunately, we can’t find many Umar in our lives — an honest and gentle bajaj driver.
If you live in Indonesia or was once lived in Indonesia then you can relate to most of the satires throughout the movie, the so-called “modern” Indonesia that’s loaded with clashes of values and bitter reality.
Udah deh cepetan nonton film-nya. Nggak rugi… *smile* Thank you to make me see this movie, friend.
