I was just talking to Nancy over the phone. (Sorry, I haven’t had the chance to call you since I arrived in Toronto.) We updated on what’s happened in our life during the past couple months. I know she’s busy right now with the groundwork for 10th anniversary of Indonesia’s May 1998 tragedy. I told her that I can’t help much right now but I’ll definitely attend the memorial event. Her parents are well. Her brother is expecting his first baby. She’ll travel to Victoria in June for this occasion. Nelson already returned to Canada after spending couple months for research in Latin America.
I asked her about Mika. Nancy said that the lady is busy right now – she’s probably near the Thailand-Myanmar border right now – after a series of things happened in Burma in the past year (from the military crushing for democracy to the cyclone that has just made thousands victims). We agree to visit Mika in Montréal when she’s done with her trip. Data married a Canadian girl couple years ago and is living in eastern Canada since then.
As of with us? We’re trying to find the time to meet and have the chance to talk lengthy about many things – as we always do. So, next week I’ll probably spend the night or nights in her place during the event.
As I went on my planning mode, I said that “word”…
Then, came this question from Nancy, “How do you make God laugh, Elisabeth?” I laughed out loud, of course. (I know. I know. You made me laugh by asking that question.) I answered her with a big smile:
We make Him laugh by telling Him our plans.
I believe that we are the ones that make and mold our life and are responsible on how things turn in our life – I’m still learning that sometimes things may not go as planned and it’s alright.
But, sometimes I still need to make Him laugh with my plans. *smile*
