Mr. Wen dropped us an e-mail about Anny’s surprise birthday party. Hm… didn’t know that Anny already reached her big five O. I thought she’s still in her thirties. *smile*
So, around 3:30PM, Mr. Wen picked me and Nancy up at Finch Station’s “Kiss and Ride”. Jason and Alice were also going with us. It’s a nice day, although there’s a bit of shower in the morning. It’s about 45-minute drive to Newmarket, where Anny and her family live.
When we arrived there, there were already some of Anny’s friends from other organizations in the house. (Mr. Wen and other guests were asked to park their cars in the school in their residential area – so Anny wouldn’t know that there’s something going on. Hehehe…) We introduced ourselves and join the conversation while we had chips and dips and soft drink. Barbara was born and grew up near Sudbury, currently a booming mining city in Canada. Jason said that he’s successfully made four matchmakings so far – he targets to have six matchmakings in his lifetime. No doubt about it, Jason, I know you can make it. *smile*
Anny’s house is a 2-floor house with a big backyard and patio overlooking the man-made lake and some slopes of the golf course.
More guests arrived. Some food was already delivered. George, Anny’s husband, who planned this surprise party for her, went in and out to entertain the guests or to answer the door. But there’s no sight of the birthday girl yet. (We knew Samantha, Anny’s daughter, went out with Anny for sushi to buy time.)
Around 6PM, Anny and Samantha arrived and open the front door to the cheers of all the guests. All amateurs photographers took her in action… including the one with her wearing the 50th body banner. *smile* We sang “Happy Birthday” and wished her good health and prosperity for the coming years.
We couldn’t start eating because we’re still waiting for that special order for the night: the roasted suckling pig. As soon as the special order arrived, George put it in on the dining table facing Barbara and we started to eat. *smile* George was so happy that day. It’s the first time I saw him so animated. Anny couldn’t eat because she’s already full with sushi.
The food was excellent! I list it here for you to imagine *smile* roasted suckling pig, lamb curry, beef with broccoli and carrot, fried rice, potato salad, curry fish ball, fried vermicelli a la Philippine, Hong Kong style fried flat noodle.
